Class-as-Curator Lesson Plan 1: “Does the Statue of Liberty Represent America?”

We created this lesson for a workshop at the CUNY Graduate Center’s Teaching and Learning Center and hoped to attract an interdisciplinary group of college and museum educators. To help us all stay focused on the activities and the museum pedagogies behind them, we chose to use content that was already quite familiar to participants. We settled on the Statue of Liberty and the central question, “Does the Statue of Liberty represent America?”
