Class-As-Curator Lesson Plan 2: Teaching Emotions Through a Portrait Gallery

Members of our team collaborated with Kelly Paciaroni of Pearl River High School to create this one-hour interactive lesson for “Bringing the Museum into the World Language Classroom,”a content-based professional development workshop held on October 19th, 2018 at Hunter College. Intended for teachers of all world languages at the secondary and college levels, this lesson offers a sequence of museum pedagogy exercises to explore emotion in the classroom. Depending on your curriculum and the class’s language level, this lesson could be useful to: review vocabulary, practice speaking and writing skills,  or explore culture (if you choose art from a particular place/time.)

The below materials incorporate many of the museum-based pedagogical activities described elsewhere on this site.
